Tasting - Potluck Sweet Malbec

Name: Potluck Sweet Malbec
Variety: Malbec
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2010
Price: $7.95

Review: "Deep red brilliant with violet hints. Complex, fruity, and predominant red fruits. Easy to drink, round with persistent sweetness, very well balanced with sweet tannins."

My Review: The label on the bottle instantly intrigued me. I love fruity wines and very much enjoyed the fruity taste when drinking this one. I don't like a really tannic red wine and the fact that the wine contained sweet tannins rather than earthy flavors was ideal to me.

Tasting - Domaine de Grange de Payan

Name: Domaine de Grange de Payan
Variety: Grenache
Region: Cotes Du Rhone
Country: France
Year: 2011
Price: $8.95

ReviewTo me the spicier and dryer the wine the better, so I really enjoyed this one. Again, like the last wine I was able to pick up a little bit of berry smell but nothing more. The taste, was strong. I could really taste the raspberry again and the spice of the wine. Overall, I would like to have this wine again.

My Review: I was not a fan of this wine. I love spicy things but I just couldn't acquire a taste for this one. I picked up on the berry aromas and flavors. It was just too rich for me.

Tasting - Tinto Figaro

Name: Tinto Figaro
Variety: 100% Garnacha
Region: Calatayud
Country: Spain
Year: 2009
Price: $6.95

Review: "Bright black plum hue; aromas of black cherries, plums and earth; flavor notes of supple plums and kirsch with a kiss of tobacco, supported by good acidity to a moderate finish. A good value table wine for Summer barbeque... "

My Review: I really enjoyed the berry aromas I got when smelling the wine. Also a hint of cherry reached my nose. I highly enjoyed the spiciness and aftertaste. I would probably enjoy this with a nice, fat juicy steak.

Tasting - Maipe Malbec Rosé

Name: Maipe Malbec Rosé
Variety: 100% Malbec
Region: Mendoza
Country: Argentina
Year: 2011

Review: "Intense pink color with violet hints. Fresh red fruit bouquet, strawberry and cherry flavors, balanced acidity, dry and lingering finish. Excellent with tuna or green salad, pasta, spicy Asian dishes."

My Review: Quite tasty. I absolutely love strawberries and strawberry flavor so I was pleased when that's what I tasted when drinking this wine. The cherry was a nice surprise, too, as I love cherry.

Tasting - Cortenova Pinot Grigio

Name: Cortenova Pinot Grigio
Variety: Pinot Grigio
Region: Veneto
Country: Italy
Year: 2012
Price: $7.95

Review: "Clean, crispy, elegant with hints of pear and apricots - difficult to find better at this price point."

My Review: I'm a Pinot Grigio fan so I enjoyed this wine. On the nose, I noticed a hint of pear, definitely. Not sure if I was able to detect the banana but that may just be because I'm still learning how to smell and taste wine. It tasted fruity.
